Argus Home · How it works

A day at the gate, step by step.

What happens at the entrance in everyday moments, and in the ones that aren't.

Plates open the gate from stage 1. QR and WhatsApp passes, keypads and the guard-house app arrive in stage 3, once plate reading is proven. See the stages →

7:45 am · A resident arrives

The gate opens before they brake.

The resident lane's cameras read the plate and the guard-house computer decides on site.

  1. 1

    The camera reads the plate

Two cameras per lane, front and rear, so the read doesn't depend on a single plate.

  2. 2

    Argus checks the record

The vehicle is approved and its home is active. The decision is made right at the guard house, so nothing waits on the internet.

  3. 3

    The gate opens

The command goes to the relay exactly once, and the entry is logged with its evidence.

11:20 am · A visitor arrives with a pass

Arrives in stage 3

No calls to the house.

The resident created the pass the night before on WhatsApp and forwarded it to their visitor.

  1. 1

    The camera reads their plate

The pass carries the car's plate (if the community turns that on), so there's nothing to show. On foot or in another car, the fixed reader scans the QR or the visitor types the 8-digit code.

  2. 2

    Argus checks the pass

The guard house checks validity, number of uses and lane, even offline.

  3. 3

    It opens and notifies

The gate opens and the resident gets an arrival notice on WhatsApp.

3:05 pm · Someone arrives without a pass

Arrives in stage 3

A message instead of a phone call.

A delivery for House 22 shows up without a pass, and the guard doesn't have to call anyone.

  1. 1

    The guard picks the home

In the guard-house app they pick the home the visitor is headed to.

  2. 2

    The household decides on WhatsApp

Every adult in the home gets the notice with Allow or Decline. The first answer counts.

  3. 3

The answer reaches the guard house

If it's Allow, the gate opens with a pass created on the spot, and it's all logged. If nobody answers, the guard follows their usual procedure.

8:30 pm · The internet goes down

The entrance keeps working.

Decisions never depended on the cloud. The guard-house computer already has what it needs.

  1. 1

    Plates and passes keep opening

Everything already synced keeps working for as long as the board allows, up to 7 days.

  2. 2

The guard house works the same

The guard-house app keeps showing every lane, and openings with a reason are still logged.

  3. 3

    When the connection returns

The log uploads to the dashboard and the board sees everything that happened.

More features

What always happens at a guard house.

An ambulance, the person who cleans on Tuesdays, a visitor who forgot their QR.

Emergency passes

A short-lived QR pass for an ambulance, a locksmith or a relative. The gate accepts it instantly, even offline.

Arrives in stage 3

At the lane, a dedicated scanner reads the pass from the car, with no guard handling anyone's phone.

Arrives in stage 3

Keypad at the lane

A keypad with an intercom to type the 8-digit code or call the guard house.

Arrives in stage 3

The whole household

Every adult in the home can create passes and answer visitors. The first answer counts.

Arrives in stage 3

Everyone uses Argus in their language: dashboard, portal, passes and messages.
