About Argus
What's the difference between Argus Home, Club and Business?
All three run on the same platform, with the same equipment at the entrance, the same app and the same log. What changes is the setup and the billing. Argus Home is billed per home, Argus Club per member and Argus Business as a fixed fee or per user.
Can my community and my club be on the same account?
Yes. Each person has a single account and sees every place they belong to. Each place has its own rules and its own administration.
Are Argus Club and Argus Business available yet?
They're in early access. Argus Home is the one we're installing today, while Club and Business are being prepared with the first sites. If either interests you, write to us.
Where is the equipment installed?
At each entrance. Depending on the gate, that means plate cameras, QR readers or keypads, plus a computer that makes the decisions on site. We install it all and look after it.
Cost · Argus Home
How much does Argus cost?
There's an installation fee, a monthly fee per home and a site minimum. The amounts depend on the homes, lanes and equipment, so we give them in a proposal after visiting the entrance.
Do we pay per resident or guard?
No. The monthly fee is per home and covers every resident, guard and manager in the community.
Is the guard-house equipment bought separately?
The equipment is included in the installation fee, which can be subsidized depending on the contract term. The proposal spells it out.
Can we try it before committing?
Yes. The pilot program starts with a few days of observation, when Argus reads plates without opening the gate, and then a handful of key vehicles. The board sees the results at its own entrance before any homes are added.
Day to day · Argus Home
Does it add work for the guards?
Less. Registered residents drive straight in and visitors with passes come in through the reader or, if your community turns it on, by plate. Guards handle only the visitors without a pass, with a tap on the tablet instead of a call to the house.
What about residents without a smartphone?
Their plate works the same, no phone needed. Management can create any pass that's needed, and other household members can create passes and get the notices. Guards can still open manually, with a reason.
What if a resident changes cars or borrows one?
They register the new vehicle in their portal and management approves it. For a borrowed car, a pass with the plate can be created.
Does my visitor need to install anything?
No. They get a link to their pass. If it carries their car's plate and your community has that turned on, the gate opens when it's read. Otherwise they show the QR or type the 8-digit code on the lane's keypad.
What about emergencies?
The guard can always open manually. And short-lived emergency passes are coming soon, which the guard house accepts right away, even offline.
Outages and continuity · Argus Home
What happens if the internet goes down?
The guard house keeps deciding with what it already has. Registered plates and synced passes work for up to 7 days offline, and the board can adjust that limit. Only new passes have to wait for the connection, and until it's back the guard opens manually with a reason.
And if the power goes out?
The guard-house computer, cameras and network are on a UPS to ride through short outages. The gate keeps working as it does today with its own controls.
Can Argus leave the gate open?
No. Argus only sends single open pulses. It never holds the gate open, never replays old commands and never opens on restart, and it doesn't touch the gate's safety sensors.
What happens if Argus stops operating?
Your entrance goes back to working as it does today, since Argus connects in parallel to the gate without replacing its controls. The community can export its log whenever it wants.
Privacy · Argus Home
What happens to the plates that are read?
Registered plates, both residents' and the ones on visitors' passes, are used to open the gate for them. Reads and images of non-resident vehicles are kept only as long as the privacy notice states. They are never sold or shared.
Who can see the log?
The community's management, with permissions per person. Each resident sees their household's entries. The Argus team has access to install, run and support the service, and every change is logged under their name.
Do you use face recognition?
No. Argus uses no face recognition or biometric data.
