Privacy notice
How personal data is handled on argus.security and in the Argus access-control service.
Preliminary version, 2026-10-15. This notice is under legal review and may change before Argus operates at a site. Bracketed details will be completed in that review. The Spanish version (Aviso de privacidad) prevails.
1. Who is responsible
[Legal entity name] ("Argus"), at [Registered address], is responsible for the data you give us on this website, for example through the contact form.
When a community (a gated neighborhood, homeowners' association or its management) contracts Argus for its entrance, the community decides what is recorded and why; Argus then processes the data on the community's behalf, as a processor. The community provides its residents and visitors with its own notice or with this one, as agreed in the contract.
2. What data we process
On this website
- Contact forms (demo request and message): name, email and/or phone, community, the product or topic you choose, number of homes, your role in the community and your message.
- Functional cookies:
lang, which remembers your language;theme, which remembers whether you prefer the light or dark theme; and, if you're signed in to the app,argus_hintandargus_ops_hint, which hold only your initials to show your account menu. No advertising or tracking cookies.
In the access-control service
- Residents: name, phone and/or email, home, household members and, optionally, birth date, sex and relationship; registered vehicles (plate, make, model, year and color).
- Visitors: name and, if the resident adds them, the plate and vehicle details; the pass issued and its uses.
- At the entrance: plate reads, images of the vehicle taken by the entrance cameras, the record of each entry, denial or manual opening, and the reason the guard enters.
- Staff: name, contact details and a record of their actions in the system.
We do not process sensitive data. Argus uses no face recognition or biometrics and does not ask for government IDs.
3. What we use it for
Necessary purposes: allowing or denying entry under the community's rules; issuing and checking passes; notifying residents about their visitors; keeping the entry log for the community's security; supporting the service and keeping it running and secure; answering your contact request.
Secondary purposes: sending you information about Argus if you asked for it. You can opt out by writing to the address in section 7; this does not affect the service.
We never sell data or share it for advertising.
4. Who we share it with
We use providers that process data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Hosting for the service's server, located in Dallas, Texas, United States.
- Transactional email (sign-in codes and invitations).
- Meta's WhatsApp Business, for pass and visitor-approval messages.
Some of these providers are outside Mexico, so there are international transfers needed to provide the service. We share data with authorities only when a law or a valid order requires it.
5. How long we keep it
- Plate reads and vehicle images of non-residents: [period to be defined].
- Entry and change logs: the period agreed in the community's contract, [period to be defined].
- Contact requests: up to [period to be defined] after the last exchange.
6. How we protect it
Entry decisions are made by a computer inside the guard house, which connects to the server through an encrypted tunnel and exposes no ports to the internet. Administrative access uses short-lived certificates and is logged. QR passes are signed and carry no personal data. More in Security & privacy.
7. Your rights (ARCO) and how to use them
You can request access, correction, deletion or objection to the processing of your data, withdraw consent or limit its use, by writing to [ARCO rights email]. Include your name, how to reach you, the community and the right you want to exercise. We will answer within the periods set by Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties. If your community registered your data, you can also contact its management.
8. Changes to this notice
Any change will be published on this page, with its date. The signs at each community's entrance point here.
